Welcome to Cape Town and its famous
Table Mountain. What a better way to start your day with a visit
to this amazing landmark.
The best views of Cape Town are from the top of Table Mountain. The
cableway takes you to the summit in under ten minutes whilst
rotating gondola's ensure that you enjoy a 360 degree view of Cape
Town and Table Bay. Once on top you can stroll along 2 km of
pathways and enjoy magnificent views from over 12 viewing sites and
decks. Breakfast is served in the restaurant, there is also a curio
shop and many photographic opportunities to remember this magical
moment for ever.
Then a leisurely drive across town will take you to the clock tower,
just in time to catch the ferry to Robben Island.
No place in South Africa symbolises the universal struggle for
freedom as powerfully as Robben Island.
Nelson Mandela officially opened the Nelson Mandela Gateway to
Robben Island on December 1, 2001. Declared a World Heritage Site on
December 1, 1997, Robben Island has become a symbol of the triumph
of the human spirit. A tour of the Robben Island Museum is a
multi-faceted journey which begins at the Gateway, where multi-media
exhibitions, a restaurant, an auditorium and a museum shop are
housed.
A Robben Island Museum tour includes a half-hour ferry trip, a
guided tour of the Maximum Security Prison, interaction with an
ex-political prisoner, and a bus tour of the historic buildings and
the unique flora and fauna of the 575-hectare Island.
On your return from the island, take time at leisure and stroll
around the V&A Waterfront; where you can enjoy shopping galore and
so much more activities.
Attracting more than 22 million visitors per year, Cape Town’s V&A
Waterfront is a cosmopolitan mixed-use development situated in a
historic working harbour. Offerings include the unique working
harbour ambience, scenic views of Table Mountain, historic
buildings, museums, boat and helicopter charters, the Two Oceans
Aquarium, annual special events and street musicians, the Nelson
Mandela Gateway to Robben Island and the recently unveiled Nobel
Square, showcasing South Africa’s Nobel Peace Prize Laureates. With
more than 400 specialty stores, craft markets and 72 eateries, the
V&A Waterfront will offer you a world of opportunities.
See you on the Big 6 Route!
