In the morning, enjoy a drive to the
outskirts of Cape Town to one of the "Seven Magnificent Botanical
Gardens of the World" – Kirstenbosch; which is also one of South
Africa’s 8 National Botanical Gardens.
Depending on your agenda, there are many things one can experience
at Kirstenbosch with two restaurants (a la carte and self service),
a coffee shop, curio shop and a book shop. Take a stroll in the
garden, possibly with the self guided audi system or you can take
part in one of the guided theme walks or golf car tours. The garden
is home to many bird species (including breeding owls, guinea fowl
and sugarbirds) and small endemic mammals (Cape Fox, small grey
Mongoose, and Cape Otter). For hiking enthusiasts, Skeleton Gorge
and Nursery Ravine offer panoramic trails and gateways to the top of
the Mountain. Don’t forget to view the outdoor Stone Sculptures and
the desert plant Conservatory.
Then a leisurely drive along the Cape Coast and above the mountains
will take you to Cape Point.
When you arrive, breathtaking scenery will ignite your senses; this
is where the chilly waters of the Atlantic in the west meet the warm
waters of False Bay in the east. From Cape Point, you have many
opportunity to connect with nature and you can take the furnicular
to the old lighthouse overlooking this wild coast. Should you need
lunch, don’t miss the majestic views whilst dining on a sumptuous
meal at the Two Oceans Restaurant or picnic on one of Cape Point's
wild beaches. For the more energetic, snorkeling and diving
opportunities abound or take a leisurely walk on the wild side. The
Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park's
flora is something to behold, with its fynbos species found nowhere
else in the world, hence its recent status of World Heritage Site.
On your drive back to town, what best way to end your day than to
enjoy a wine tour of the Constantia Wine Valley.
The cradle of the Wine Industry, Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia,
Buitenverwachting, Steenberg, Uitsig, High Constantia and Constantia
Glen are the 7 producers that make up the Constantia Valley “ Cape
Town’s Vineyard.” These Seven Wine producers set the benchmark in
the wine industry winning numerous awards over the last decade that
stand testimony to the quality and consistently high standard of the
wines. The breathtaking beauty of the valley and vineyards are
unique in a modern cosmopolitan environment, preserving the cultural
and historical heritage of the oldest wine area in the Cape.
Experience a tasting tour of premium wines with the individual
service excellence that echoes the hospitality extended to all
visitors to the Constantia Valley. There are many restaurants within
the Estates so don’t miss, the opportunity to have dinner in the
winelands, only 20 minutes from Cape Town centre.
See you on the Big 6 Route!
